I'm a journalist, part-time university lecturer and freelance editor and copywriter. My byline appears in all manner of places including the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, BBC, SBS and ABC online and lots of good magazines in Australia and internationally.
I work from a home-based office in the south of Sydney and write feature articles and profiles across a very wide range of topics, including technology, travel, business, health, science, education, photography, law, food and 'lifestyle.'
I'm the founder and moderator of Freeline (the Australian freelance journalists network) and I'm an elected Federal Councillor for the Media Alliance member. I've worked variously as a radio, magazine, newspaper and online journalist - but got sick of wearing shoes all day.
I teach environmental journalism at New York University (Sydney) and have taught at UTS, the University of NSW, Southern Cross University Lismore, UTS, the Australian College of Journalism and the NSW Writers Centre. I spent several years as Manager of the Australian Centre for Independent Journalism and I also do some corporate media training.
My specialties are journalism - particularly feature writing, profiles and case studies, editing, ghost writing, web copywriting, sub-editing and proof-reading. I also do SEO copy, photography, press releases, media training, speechwriting, annual reports and other corporate writing.
My main topics are technology, travel, health, education, environment, science, and business, but I'm a generalist by nature and happy to write in new areas.
